Alex Jones claims to have lost 10,000 bitcoins that were on hislaptop.
Alex Jones, founder of the far-right media group Infowars, said he had lost a laptop containing 10,000 bitcoins given to him by TV personality and bitcoin supporter Max Keiser. During Flagrant 2 with Andrew Schultz and Akaash Singh on Tuesday, he said Kaiser had given him 10K BTC on a laptop 10 years ago.
The far-right American radio and internet presenter is known for his creative conspiracy theories. New York Magazine called him America’s foremost conspiracy theorist, and the Southern Poverty Law Center called him the most prolific conspiracy theorist in modern America.
Jones, long a critic of bitcoin, refused to warm to the crypto currency until mid-February last year, when he went on the air with Kaiser: You’re right, I should have gotten into bitcoin a long time ago. At the time, Kaiser predicted that the price of bitcoin would reach $400,000.
During Tuesday’s show, Jones shared: Ten years ago… Max Keyser come to me and say I have 10,000 bitcoins for you. This is the future. It will become a new world currency. It’s in the files. However, Jones argued:
I lost the laptop he had 10,000 bitcoins on. How much are 10,000 bitcoins worth today? Very much so.
Schultz immediately helped Jones calculate the value of his bitcoins. He rounded up the price of bitcoin and estimated that 10,000 BTC was worth about $500 million. You idiot. Find the laptop, Schultz said with a laugh. At Jones’ request, Schultz stood up and gave him two light blows. I deserved it, Jones exclaimed to the hilarity of everyone on the pitch.
At the time of writing, the price of bitcoin was $56,200, and the BTC lost by Jones would be worth more than $562 million.

Max Kaiser confirms that he gave 10K Bitcoins to Jones.
I swear to God, it’s real. I didn’t know the emperor had common cause with Putin and the Easter Bunny, Jones continued on the show.
Kaiser later confirmed that he had given Jones a laptop containing 10,000 BTC. Yes. The price at the time was less than $5, he noted, adding that Jones’ story is one of Bitcoin’s most notable chapters. Kaiser then made his position clear:
Now [Jones’ 10,000 lost bitcoins] are worth $565 million….. Soon (in 2021) it will be worth $2.2 billion.
