Pepe the Frog Creator Launches NFTs Featuring the Infamous Internet Meme – Blockchain Bitcoin News

It’s hard to think of the original Pepe the Frog meme as anything but a piece of internet culture. But Pepe was created as a way to illustrate the problems with online anonymity, and the meme was actually created as a way to celebrate Myspace user Matt Furie’s first website, which was called “Chokepoint”. Since then, the meme has taken on a life of its own, and has seen the character used in various parodies as a way to mock political figures, and even get turned into a variety of merchandise.

The creator of Pepe the Frog has launched his own crypto tokens on the Ethereum blockchain. The founder of the altcoin developer company Erosheep, Alex Sunnarborg, has detailed plans for the creation of a new collection of cryptocurrencies whose sole purpose is to honor the internet meme. The Pepe Coin will be the first in the line of Pepe-themed ERC-20 tokens, another Ethereum-based project that is backed by the cryptocurrency community.

The “Love Pepe” meme first appeared in 2008 when his creator Matt Furie released the cartoon in the newspaper The Phantom of the Opera. Now, creator Matt Furie has announced that his NFTs featuring the meme are now available for purchase.

When the image appeared on the internet, it went viral on Myspace, Reddit, 4chan and Tumbler and was recognized as one of the most popular memes of the last decade. Now Fury has started collecting non-flying chips (NFT) and has taken Pepe with him. Fury has launched a web portal, pegz.fun, which features 2D and 3D animated creatures created by Fury. Users can even sign up for plops, which seems to be up in the air with NFT Fury. One of the whirlpools of the NFT colorfully depicts the famous Fury character Pepe the frog. Speaking to WP, Furey said that many NFT artists make interesting work. The NFT world is new and there are a lot of optimistic people creating cool things, Fury said in the interview. Pepe doesn’t have the same background here as in the real world, and I love working with utopians and optimistic freethinkers. The possibilities are many, adds the creator of Pepe.
